We are proud to announce a historic milestone in Sri Lanka’s tax landscape — the official launch of Sri Lanka’s first-ever AI-powered tax solution, introduced by TaxAdvisor.lk on November 4, 2025, at our Colombo Office, World Trade Center.
This groundbreaking initiative brings artificial intelligence into the core of tax advisory services, enabling both professionals and taxpayers to access reliable, up-to-date tax knowledge anytime through our website and WhatsApp.
Our mission has always been clear — to make tax education simpler, smarter, and accessible to everyone. With the new AI Tax Assistant, users can now explore answers to complex tax questions, understand regulations, and stay compliant — all through a few clicks at ai.taxadvisor.lk.
The event brought together an impressive gathering of tax professionals, policymakers, and innovators from across the country, including representatives from the Inland Revenue Department (IRD), CA Sri Lanka, and the Chartered Institute of Taxation, along with several AI experts and marketing strategists.
Mr. Nihal Abeywardena, Senior Deputy Commissioner, IRD, highlighted the importance of this initiative in promoting AI-driven tax education and supporting compliance under Sri Lanka’s self-assessment tax system.
Mr. Ruwan Gamage, President of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, praised the effort, noting that it comes at a time when over 12 million TINs have already been issued by the IRD, creating a growing need for accessible tax education tools.
Mr. Dhananath Fernando, CEO of the Advocata Institute, shared that the AI platform would be a major benefit to investors and the public, helping demystify tax laws and transform attitudes toward taxation.
Mr. Saman Srilal, Alternate Chairperson – Faculty of Taxation (CA Sri Lanka), appreciated the project as a powerful educational tool that will elevate public understanding of the Sri Lankan tax system.
Adding a global perspective, AI Expert Mr. Sanjaya Elvitigala stated that industries around the world are undergoing “leapfrog events” through AI transformation. He expressed confidence that Sri Lanka can reach end-to-end AI-driven tax solutions, similar to Dubai and Estonia, within months — if key institutions and innovators work together.
From a marketing standpoint, Mr. Vikasitha Weerasinghe, Marketing Specialist and Branding Strategist, pointed out that this initiative adds immense value to tax advisory services. He noted that the timing was perfect, coinciding with the November tax filing season and the National Budget period, ensuring maximum relevance and impact.
