I am a taxation professional with practical experience in Sri Lankan tax compliance, advisory, and regulatory procedures. I have been actively involved in handling Value Added Tax (VAT), Advance Personal Income Tax (APIT), Corporate Income Tax, and Withholding Tax matters in accordance with the Inland Revenue Act of Sri Lanka.
My experience includes preparing and submitting tax returns through the RAMIS system, preparing APIT schedules, calculating monthly tax liabilities, and ensuring timely compliance with statutory deadlines. I have also handled tax appeals and correspondence with the Inland Revenue Department (IRD), including VAT penalty appeals and resolving system-related discrepancies.
In addition, I have experience in international taxation matters, including reviewing Double Tax Agreements (DTAs) relevant to import and distribution businesses. I have worked with companies engaged in importing spare parts, solar equipment, and local distribution operations.
My role involves tax planning, compliance monitoring, financial statement support for audits, and advising management on tax-efficient strategies while maintaining full regulatory compliance.
